As donations poured in for the Christmas Giving Initiative — winter coats, toys, books, games and festive treats — the team quickly outgrew their usual storage areas. The volume and variety of items made it almost impossible to keep everything organised, and the project needed a dedicated space where donations could be stored safely and sorted properly.
Volunteers work around their own family and job commitments, so they needed a space that could be accessed flexibly, including evenings and weekends. Without a secure, warm and well-organised location, managing the project would have been difficult and stressful. It was becoming clear that the initiative couldn’t reach its full potential without proper storage support.
When Smartbox heard about the project, they immediately provided a free indoor storage unit for the entire duration of the initiative, giving Athena Activities exactly the breathing room they needed. The unit became a central hub where volunteers could sort and prepare donations without pressure or clutter.
